Bionas press mills are located at Sri Aman, Sibu and Bintulu, Sarawak and Keningau Sabah. A total of 8 Bionas press mills are in operation in Malaysia and neighboring countries.
Bionas Murabahah Berhad (BMB) is a special purpose development vehicle formed as part of the Bionas Group to encourage participation in Jatropha Curcas planting efforts in Malaysia. Through an affordable and innovative development programme, BMB offers everyone the opportunity to participate in sustainable and commercial scale Jatropha planting in the country via the Islamic Murabahah (Sale & Purchase) concept of trade, compliant with Syariah principles, as approved by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Malaysia. The Company has successfully developed Jatropha planting throughout Malaysia with an available plantation landbank of 3.3 million acres of plantable area that has been contracted with thousands of land owners.
The total land area allocated for Phase 1 of this Programme is 500,000 acres. Under the Programme, Participants are offered the opportunity to purchase Jatropha seedlings and plantations fertilizers amounting to RM3,000 from Bionas Sdn. Bhd. (BSB). Participants then sell the Jatropha seedling and plantations fertilizers to BATC Development Berhad (BATC) with a profit margin of 75% totalling to RM5,250. Payments to participants will be paid by BATC in deferred payments with the rate schedules agreed upon by both parties and free from the elements of "Riba". By way of the Islamic Musyarakah (Joint Venture) concept, BATC will develop Jatropha plantations with contracted farmers in rural areas by offering job opportunities to poverty stricken groups that may include single mothers and the handicapped. It is the Company's mission to contribute in enhancing the economy of rural communities with the objective of eradicating poverty.
